2020 Vespa Sei Giorni II Launched at 1st Vespa Day Malaysia posted on 2020-09-02 02:33:54

The official distributor of Vespa motorcycles in Malaysia, Didi Resources, launched the 2020 Vespa Sei Giorni II limited edition model over the weekend.
The launch took place during the 1st Vespa Day Malaysia, which was held in conjunction with Malaysia’s 63rdIndependence Day. Held at the Lost World of Tambun theme park near Ipoh, Perak, the event saw the participation of more than 100 Vespas old and new.

The model pays homage to Vespa’s distinction at the Sei Giorni Internazionale race in 1951. The 6-day trials took place over difficult routes that were hundreds of kilometres long, including off-road sections. Part of the trials also include speed trials at the legendary Monza circuit. Yet, the Piaggio Squadra Corse entered 10 scooters and came away with 9 gold medals the event, beating out purpose-built and specially prepared off-road bikes. The success earned Piaggio the Industry Gold Medal as they were the only Italian team to win the trials.
As a homage to the glory, the Vespa “Sei Giorni” went on sale soon after. Although aesthetically similar to the standard model, it actually had a larger fuel tank, streamlined shield and the right-side pannier was used to house the carburetor. Only 300 were ever built, making it the most prized Vespa among collectors.

So, it’s only apt that we see a new Vespa Sei Giorni II in 2020.
The new bike is based on the 300 GTS platform. However, it sports the new 300 High Performance Engine (HPE). This 300cc, 4-valve, liquid-cooled single is updated with electronic fuel injection, gaining 18% torque (now 26 Nm at 5250 RPM) and 12% power (now 23.8 hp).
Shadows of the original Sei Giorni extends to the new bike. This could be seen immediately with the “low headlight,” mounted atop the front wheel fender. Apart from that, the handlebar’s metal tubing is exposed rather than being hidden underneath an enclosure. However, the most prominent feature has to be the old-style instrument cluster. A large number plate with the number “6” completes the model.
However, let’s not forget that it’s a modern Vespa, by and large. There’s a USB charger located inside the leg shield compartment; the taillight is LED; the brakes are supported by ABS.
The 2020 Sei Giorni II sells for RM 34,500 (basic selling price). It includes the 300 GTS windscreen and Vespa top box.
Too expensive for a “scooter”? Think again, because the first batch is all sold out and Didi Resources is currently waiting for the arrival of the second batch. Place your order now.
