2021 BMW R 1250 RT Makes Appearance posted on 2020-10-20 12:35:47

The 2021 BMW R 1250 RT has made an appearance.
It was perhaps surprising since the current and “new” R 1250 RT was launched just two years ago, following the introduction of the new 1254cc Boxer engine which the features ShiftCam variable valve timing system.

For 2021, however, BMW Motorrad has introduced a totally reworked bike (while leaving the engine alone). It’s also noteworthy that the new bike features Adaptive Cruise Control which utilizes radars, making it the first working production bike to employ the system, and thereby beating Ducati to the punch. Ducati had announced the use of the system for their upcoming Granturismo V4 but the bike hasn’t been formally launched. Perhaps this is why BMW Motorrad launched the new RT so quickly?

Anyway, the revisions obviously began with its styling. The overall side profile remains the same with the lines of the pointy nose, large air vents in front of the rider’s knees, the fuel tank, seats and hard panniers.

But the headlamps have been redesigned, making the bike look sharper and lither. They are of course LED, but owners can opt for the Adaptive Turning Light function. It helps to light the inside of corners instead of pointing dead ahead.

Look behind the windscreen and you’ll find a 10.25” tablet… er… color TFT screen. The rider can integrate his smartphone and navigation to it. There is also a “comfort telephony” package which adds a waterproof yet ventilated compartment to charge your smartphone wirelessly or via a USB cable.
We will have the price when it arrived in Malaysia.
